The first show was a success!!
a room filled with love

The first show reflection:
Wow, where do I even start? Mhmm, I’ll start with this. When it's all said and done, almost everyone who came through, came through because they love and support John and I. The truth is y'all would be here regardless of the quality of the music. That's not only humbling but also encouraging. It gave us the space to experiment and express without fear of judgment. In terms of the music itself, I’m proud of myself and the band along with John, who opened for me. It was a first for all of us, and listening back to the recordings, there are things to improve on, but I think we left everything on the stage, and ultimately people could feel that. Guys, I was shaking the whole time haha. Such a difference when singing in my room vs. singing in front of others! Im excited to continue learning and growing as a performer :)
If I’m being honest, I left the venue that night feeling quite empty, which I hear is a common thing for artists. D’Angelo once said it’s because you go on stage and pour your soul out; of course, you’ll have nothing left when you get off. An interesting feeling haha. Maybe drained is a better word rather than empty? Nonetheless, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to get to share my art in a safe space with those who love me.
I Did My First Podcast!
Henry is a fellow artist (Biosphere) and a new friend of mine. He recently asked me to come onto his podcast where he gets the perspectives of local Toronto artists. I said no at first but realized I was probably overthinking it, so I decided to do it after the show. It was a lot of fun and not as scary as I thought it would be. Give it a watch/listen if you fancy haha. Here are some things we touched on:
Where the name Danny Lion came from
My journey of how I got into music
Why I said no to the podcast at first
The story behind Berklee and my thoughts on going
Reflections on the first show ft. johnwayn
Korean church culture
How my relationship with God affects my life and my art
Some advice I might have for newer creatives
Thanks for tuning in, guys :) My next email will probably be from New York!!
